Advanced level students participated in a map making workshop. The aim was to create a map in English that addresses some of the problems with the walking guides that are currently available in the Monfragüe area (hardly any information is available in English and the available maps are attractive but not very useful for navigation). The team did a fantastic job of producing all of the essential written information and providing a sketch design for the map which folds neatly into a pocket-size document. Martin (the teacher) produced the map which could in theory be printed as a photocopy, sent by email as a PDF and used again and again without the need for an expensive print job. Plus, as the landscape evolves it can easily be changed.
Making a map is a very complicated activity, as we all found out. In the end the project came together really well and the experience was extremely valuable on many levels. Great work team. Well done!
